Biography

John Jacob Rieck, Jr. started his legal career as a litigation associate in a large Wall Street law firm. Thereafter he served in the Office of the District Attorney for New York County for almost a decade. His prosecutorial service there included two years investigating and trying narcotics law violations, two years of economic crime investigations and trials as Deputy Chief of the Frauds Bureau, three years of trial and supervisory work involving street crimes as the Deputy Chief of the Trial Division, and three years as the Executive Assistant District Attorney conducting special assignments for the District Attorney, Robert M. Morgenthau. He has over 35 years of investigative and civil and criminal trial experience as both a prosecutor and defense attorney. As an adjunct to his criminal practice, he has represented individuals and corporations at the trial and appellate level in a wide range of civil matters in federal, state, and New York City courts and administrative agencies. He served for two years as a member of the New York City Bar's Committee on Police Law and Policy.
